The cichlids of the Great East African lakes display an amazing diversity of coloration patterns and ornaments. The members of the Neolamprologus brichardi/pulcher complex belonging to the tribe of the Lamprologines are highly similar in body morphology, but different in a conspicuous facial ornament. I am investigating what role those facial stripes play in reproductive isolation and as signals in contests over resources.
I spend as much time possible outdoors in Basel and all over the world, this can be on the back of a horse, on a snowboard, with a diving goggles in the sea or on my two feet.
